Quad City Wedding Photographer Rick Jennisch
Favorite Quote: "All photographers have to do, is find and catch the story-telling moment." ~~~Alfred Eisenstaedt
Favorite Photographers: Alfred Eisenstadt, Yousuf Karsh, Annie Leibovitz, and wedding photographers, David Beckstead, Bambi Cantrell, Cliff Mautner, and Jerry Ghionis to name a few.
Favorite Photography style: I love classic portrait photography. When I say classic, I don't mean traditional. I mean, for example, the classic portrait of Audrey Hepburn in a mermaid-style dress in black and white is a classic image. Traditional wedding photography is mostly look-at-the-camera-and-smile images, which of course is important, but I prefer to create unique photos in a classic style.
My story: My love for photography began when I bought my first SLR, a Minolta XG1. No auto-focus or program mode, so I was forced to learn the technical aspects of photography. Eventually I built my own darkroom and developed my own pictures of people, landscapes, barns, etc. In the late 1990's I got serious about photography, buying my first medium format equipment and photographing more people and portraits, with my first wedding as a professional photographer in the year 2000. Almost every image that year was a formal posed shot!
Times have changed in the wedding photography industry and so has my style. But shooting in the early days with an all-manual, medium format camera has served me well today. I don't have to think too much about the technical aspects and can focus on composition and creative use of light, and anticipate the moments. I want your wedding images to be unique and fun, with elements of creativity and art, as I capture each part of the day, and I want your album to look unique in the imagery, the design, and the style. No two weddings are the same, and your album should not look the same either!
More about Rick: I am passionate about photography! It’s not unusual to find me spending hours editing and creating after a photo shoot. I have the rare opportunity in life to do what I love and create images that people will cherish for generations to come!
Even more about Rick: I have a life outside of photography too! I enjoy spending time with my daughters, family and friends, Chicago sports teams, backyard BBQ's, good restaurants, Chicago and other traveling (when I can find the time!), ocean waves and beaches, and beautiful sunsets. Usually I have an eye out for the perfect shot, which can be found anywhere---always looking for new ideas I can use for your wedding or photo session!
